Jeffrey Zeigler
Nato a Fremont California, il cellista Jeffrey Zeigler e’ uno dei membri del quartetto Kronos. I suoi primi insegnanti furono : Janos Starker, Paul Katz e StevenDoane. Ha ricevuto diversi premi tra i quali the Chamber Music of America, Richard J. Bogomolmy National Service Award, e’ inoltre membro della “Recording Academy.” Per piu’ di 30 anni Kronos Quartett, (David Harrington, John Sherba, Hank Dutt e Jeffrey Zeigler) ha seguito una particolare visione artistica mescolando un’invincibile spirito d’esplorazione con il proposito d’espandere il campo ed il contesto dei quartetti d’archi. Durante questo processo Kronos e’ diventato uno dei piu’ celebrati e influenti quartetoi d’archi del nostri tempo, eseguendo migliaia di concerti in tutto il mondo, incidendo piu’ di 40 CD’s di straordinaria creativita’ in collaborazione con molti dei piu’ eclettici compositori emusicisti del mondo, commissionando inoltre centinaia di pezzi musicali e arrangiamenti per quartetto a corde. Il lavoro dei Kronos ha raccolto molti premi che includono a Grammy per il “Best Chamber Music Performance” e ” Musician of the Year “.
A native of Fremont, California, cellist Jeffrey Zeigler is a member of the Kronos Quartet. He has been the recipient of the Chamber Music America Richard J. Bogomolny National Service Award and is a member of the Recording Academy. Jeffrey Zeigler’s primary teachers are Janos Starker, Paul Katz and Steven Doane. For more than 30 years, the Kronos Quartet—David Harrington and John Sherba (violins), Hank Dutt (viola) and Jeffrey Zeigler (cello) – has pursued a singular artistic vision, combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to expanding the range and context of the string quartet. In the process, Kronos has become one of the most celebrated and influential ensembles of our time, performing thousands of concerts worldwide, releasing more than 40 recordings of extraordinary breadth and creativity, collaborating with many of the world’s most eclectic composers and performers, and commissioning hundreds of works and arrangements for string quartet. Kronos’ work has also garnered numerous awards, including a Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance (2004) and “Musicians of the Year” (2003) from Musical America.
